“I have called you by name, you are mine” (Is. 43:1)

The Formation is a period of intense initiation and profound experience of the religious life. “Those who inspired by the Lord’’ have welcomed the invitation to follow Him and want to experiment the life of FMSC, are admitted to the Formation. In this period of Formation, the Novices are helped to imbibe the spirit of our Patron St. Francis and our Founders Fr. Gregory and Laura Leroux and to live their values in the community as well as in the Missions.

This vital stage of formation officially begins with the ceremony of vestition when novices receives the uniform of the Novitiate. The novice Mistress guides the novices through two distinct years of formation and reaches its peak at the first profession of religious vows.

The whole programme of the Formation aims at the personal formation of the Novices in order to have a passionate love for Christ Crucified and to discern the Divine call according to the proper identity of FMSC and to prepare them to live a vowed life. It is a time to deepen in the knowledge of the charism of FMSC and Spirituality, as well as to educate the Novices to give an ever more radical answer to Christ’s call according to the demands of religious life in the Congregation. It helps them to live a joyful witness of the Gospel life. To reach in this point of life the following aspects are to be given priority such as Human formation, Spiritual formation, Fmsc formation, Formation for Affective maturity, Apostolic / Missionary Formation and Intellectual formation etc.

The Formation last for two years and during the second year they are send to the community to have an experience and pastoral work etc. The novices are guided to have a total consecration of themselves to God in the following of Christ and at the service of the Mission so variety of opportunities are given to grow and update the signs of the time like, at present Novices along with their mistress distributed the mask and given the health education on pandemic corona, candle procession and Holy rosary for the deliverance of corona virus etc.  Responding to the signs of the Church and to deepen their missionary Spirit, the novices were interested to celebrate the mission Sunday in order to help for the propagation of faith, celebrating the extra ordinary missionary month and had special rosary and procession of Mother Mary from our Formation chapel along with our parish priest and parishners to the parish Church. Novices also participated in celebrating the season of creation on 8th September,  through planting the  fruit trees and conducting prayer service as a sign to protect the natural environment. Importance to the manual work also creates in young novices, to use their creativity and love towards the work.

There also given a possibility of updating the knowledge by attending classes on various subjects, combined classes with other congregational novices and participating the Inter Formation program etc. Their spiritual life is seen through their enthusiasm and desire for the pastoral work. Formation is the best place to develop the abilities and skills of the young candidate so they make use of the opportunities given to them and it is also the place to enjoy and moment to release the tensions and worries by entertaining themselves. We also remember the words of founder Fr. Gregory ‘ good novice can be a good sister’, its true, it is the place where young novice become good sister and goes to do her Mission.
